YOUR “IDEAL” FACEBOOK 101 EVENT
In close to five years of presenting Facebook 101 in schools across 22 Ontario school boards and independent schools, we’ve come to learn what makes a great event and, more importantly, what might create a challenge for you.
The optimal Facebook 101 day combines a daytime student presentation(s) and returning the same evening for the parent event. Students are equipped with current and critical Facebook knowledge that they can apply immediately, and parents have new knowledge about Facebook and are well equipped to support and discuss the site with their kids. What people are saying about the impact of Facebook 101.
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PRESENTATION
The grade-appropriate elementary school presentation (grades 5-8) is roughly 50 minutes in length and includes time for student Q&A. All aspects of Facebook are addressed including the importance and specific criteria of adding friends, how to minimize predator, stranger and bullying risks, and how to apply Facebook’s CURRENT basic, advanced and hidden privacy settings.
SECONDARY SCHOOL PRESENTATION
The secondary school presentation is roughly 55 minutes in length and includes time for student Q&A. The presentation is extremely direct and speaks to the real impact that students’ Facebook profiles will have on their short and long-term personal and professional opportunities, and their reputations. Case studies and relevant, real-life examples are illustrated.
